Graham Hodge has been working in the electricity industry for over 30 years. After graduating from University of Canterbury with both electrical and mechanical engineering degrees, he joined the Christchurch MED in network operations and later as system planning engineer before joining Electricorp Marketing as commercial manager. Graham was a prime mover in the formation of Southpower in New Zealand (forerunner of Orion Networks), preparing it for major industry reorganisation. He managed various technology start-ups and oversaw development of economic business cases for deploying new technologies. Graham has been assisting Lord Consulting over many years, with interests in maximizing economic life of power network assets using on-line asset monitoring systems. More recently he has been assisting various industries with technology transfer matters (including developing specialised training packages) and the increasing adoption of battery electric traction, including bus fleets.
