Nick Chandler has worked in the electrical industry for over 35 years as an electrician, electrical fitter, power systems technician, contract manager, electrical engineer, and currently provides electrical consulting and training services throughout New Zealand and overseas. Primary work areas include the high voltage generation, transmission and distribution industry and specialised work relating to testing and inspection of electrical installations, appliances, fittings and related equipment. Other work includes electrical fault and incident investigations.
Nick teaches electrical theory and regulations, plus National
Diploma / Bachelor of Engineering Technology subjects part time and provides
electrical
safety tuition training for electrical workers in New Zealand and overseas
(London). In addition, more than 13 technical papers, presentations and
workshops have been written and presented to various Electrical Engineering
conferences
in recent years.
Chandler Consulting Limited provides the following services: -
Electrical inspection, mainly involving (but not limited to) works, high voltage, subdivision and other electrical installations such as caravans and pleasure vessels requiring periodic inspection or as part of livening etc.
Electrical incident investigation (including human error incidents)
Management and auditing of electrical compliance and related safety training
Electrical equipment condition, fault analysis and life assessment reports, (including insulating oil analysis)
Writing and review of technical standards, procedures and work instructions
Writing and presentation of technical papers relating to the electrical industry
Electrical instrument testing, specification (for purchase or use) and repair
Electromagnetic field, electric field measurements and reports
Infra-red thermography surveys (using hired equipment) for electrical systems and industrial plant
Electrical equipment training, including (but not limited to) earth resistance and soil resistivity testing, cable testing, insulation resistance testing, cable tracing and fault location, protection systems, “works” systems (street lighting, load control, power distribution), electrical appliance testing and repair, insulating oil sampling and testing
Electrical installation testing to meet NZ Electricity Regulations and AS/NZS 3000:2000 and many other subjects - as may be required.
Preparation and provision of presentations, lectures and seminars relating to the electrical industry
Writing and review of industry unit standards and associated material
Electrical worker refresher training (CPR, Basic First Aid, Safe Work Practices, Testing to Ensure Safety, Switchboard Rescue and Pole Top Rescue).
Workplace assessments (in relation to electrical industry training organisations and/or training providers)
On and off-job (adult / apprentice) training for skills relating to the electrical industry
