Barry Clegg spent 20 years as an engineer with UK Electricity Boards and a similar period working in many parts of the world with several fault location equipment manufacturers. He has himself developed new ideas and manufactured and marketed several instruments. In addition, he has undertaken training worldwide and maintains a knowledge of current developments through his many international contacts in a wide range of companies and authorities.
Because
Barry has spent many years in cable fault location, both as an engineer
in the field and as an international representative for some of
the most well known cable fault location manufacturers, he is uniquely
placed to carry out investigations, make reports, give lectures and run
courses on the subject.
Since he retired in 2000, he has undertaken fault locations on several
types of network in the UK under the CFL banner and increased the reporting
and lecturing activities with the parent consultancy, BCC.
His regular lectures each year on the cable courses presented by EA Technology, Capenhurst, UK are well known and he has delivered lectures and run courses of up to four days duration in the UK, Europe, the Far East and Australasia.
These activities, together with the renewed discussions with manufacturers and users necessitated by his writing the third revision of his popular book, have made sure that he is in touch with most of what is going on in the cable fault location game. He may not have all the answers but he knows where to find most of them!
